This image is the first in a series of house "portraits".  The removal of surroundings and addition of negative space withdraws the viewer's sense of location and context while putting focus on the deconstructed structure.  The house is no longer a dwelling, but a study in form and color play.  The Wells Thorn House is located in historic Old Deerfield, Massachusetts.  Built in 1747, the robin's egg blue was added in 1803 to draw attention to the law practices of the attorney who resided on the premises.
